P - Can read Photo CD discs
M - Can read Multisession Photo CD discs (and usually CD+ discs, see below)

- Chinon offers upgrades for some of its drives

- Apple 600i CD-ROM drives with firmware versions 1.0k or less:
When copying large amounts of data from a CD to a hard drive, the
drive may hang and/or report disc errors. This is a firmware problem
on these drives.
- Plextor PX-4XCE: To play audio CDs use either the control buttons on
the front of this device or CDT Remote. Any audio player (not just
CDT Remote) will not properly update audio status in the Elapsed Time
Window if you are using the device controls and the Player to play CDs.
- Firmware 2.0b and above need CD-ROM ToolKit 2.0 and above.
- Very early versions of the Matsushita 8005 had a problem preventing
them from playing CD+ discs.
- ³data-only² support possess some compatibility limitations.
- If an audio CD is inserted in one of these drives, the
standard system disc initialization dialog is displayed
("Do you want to initialize this disc.) Simply press
cancel to exit this dialog.
- The CD-ROM ToolKit Application can not create CDTCache
templates for CDs inserted in these drives.
