Mini MIDI Interface

The "mini"-MIDI interface

I have seen few months ago the schematic of a Mac to MIDI interface posted by Dale W. King (thanks to him). I have build a first prototype that works perfectly so I have tried to compact a little bit the logicboard to get something easy to carry (I have a PowerBook 140). Today I post the result of this work and I hope this would be helpful to some people. I have used SMC for the resistors (except the 10 MOmega one) and the two 57 pF capacitors coupled to the oscillator. To sold easily these components use adhesive tape to maintain them in the right position, sold one side then remove the tape and sold the other side. The ICs are on supports allowing to put the 10 MOmega resistor under the 4049 and to replace these ICs in case of burn. To have a good-looking cable I have used an ImageWriter's one but this is absolutely not necessary.

If you think this work was useful, you can post me some MIDI files (I prefer classical music but I am not exclusive) at:
